Allow me to introduce you to another Smith and Co couple, Hunter and Kelsie.
When I asked Kelsie to tell me about their love story she immediately deferred me to Hunter saying, "Oh, you need to ask Hunter, he can tell it much better than I do."
So that's exactly what I did. After reading in his words how he and Kelsie fell in love, I decided to something I've never done before on my blog. I'm going to let Hunter tell their story...
"Well to answer the question “when did we first meet” would nearly be impossible. Pretty much since Kelsie was born, we have in some form or fashion been around each other. As small children we probably played together during times when I came up to visit my grandparents or at least saw each other at church. Kelsie and her mother have been going to my grandfather’s church for as long as I can remember. It wasn’t until my father decided to move us up to Sylvania to be with my grandfather on his farm that Kelsie and I really started to know each other.
Years went on and our friendship continued to grow. We had times when we were close and times when we sometimes drifted apart but in my mind, I always knew there was something special about her. Though there was a feeling inside me almost nagging me to be with Kelsie, I would not accept the idea of dating her much less spending the rest of my life with her. I wanted things to go my way and so for a while that’s what I did. I went my own way and she went her way. This of course led to nothing but trials and pain. I kept searching for something that would bring me happiness and every time my eyes would turn to her. I watched her through the years as she grew into the wonderful woman she is today and realized that she was everything I could ever hope to spend the rest of my life with.
We spent almost the entire summer together in 2017. On August 25th, I asked her if she would go with me to my cousins wedding rehearsal. We get to the rehearsal and someone yells, “Hey we need someone to stand in for Taylor (the bride).” Kelsie involuntarily was selected for the role. I was the best man and during the rehearsal, I had to watch Kelsie as she came down the aisle to “marry” Jeremiah. I knew in that moment that I was supposed to be in the grooms spot and that I couldn’t bare the thoughts of her marrying anyone else. That night, after the rehearsal, I took her back to my house for ice cream. While dipping for her what she claims was nearly the whole carton of ice cream, I asked her if she wanted to be my girlfriend.
We were together almost all the time. Dating is amazing when you are with your best friend. We went on adventures together getting to experience a lot of amazing things. We were there for each other when we were sick or had surgeries and we counted on one another when we had troubles. Time went on and I knew within my heart that I was ready to make Kelsie my wife.
Now Kelsie is the hardest person on Earth to surprise with anything. With all my best efforts, she still knew what I was getting her for Christmas. I had to be very sneaky to surprise her on the proposal. I secretly ordered a ring for her hoping she wouldn’t find out. I tried to somewhat discourage her making her believe I wasn’t ready to leap into marriage. With the help of my wonderful sister and mother, we decorated my dad’s old house which he was currently using as a bed and breakfast. It was where we were going to live if we were to get married so I felt like it was the perfect place to pop the question. We filled the living room floor with rose petals and candles and hung photos of us on our many adventures. I later that week picked her up from her house and brought her to the bed and breakfast. I told her I needed her help with some dirty linens at the bed and breakfast. Once I got her inside, I asked her to come into the living room and she looked puzzled. I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me. She bowed over covering her face and began laughing with joy. She was so in shock that I actually surprised her, it took until the next day for it to truly sink in what had happened. Till this day I still joke with her that she laughed in my face when I proposed.
Deciding to marry my best friend was the best decision I could ever make. There is no one in this world I would rather spend my life with. We look out for one another. We cry for one another. We laugh. We act silly sometimes and probably no one else in this world could understand us. We have our own secret language and we know how the other one feels just by looking into their eyes. We are more than just close we are like the same person. We are a dynamic duo, inseparable by all forces on this earth. On May 12th 2018, we are Mr. & Mrs. Furgerson."
There you have it. A beautiful love story told much more eloquently than I ever could. Congratulations to Hunter and Kelsie. I'm so excited that you have chosen Smith and Co to help you remember your amazing day!!
